Loop Health
Digital Self-Care Platform for Diabetic Type-2 Patients
About Loop Health
Loop Health is a startup founded by medical professionals with a clear mission: to create a comprehensive digital self-care platform for type-2 diabetes patients. Managing diabetes requires sustained lifestyle changes and consistent monitoring, and the Loop Health team recognised that existing digital tools were not meeting the real needs of patients or their healthcare providers.
The app was built around three core pillars: monitoring, content, and coaching. For monitoring, patients can log blood sugar levels, food intake, and daily activities. The content pillar provides access to educational articles, videos, and health programmes designed to help patients achieve their health goals and build long-term healthy habits. The coaching pillar offers one-on-one sessions with Diabetic Consultants, bringing professional guidance directly to the patient’s device. The app is currently available to select participants.
Digital Self-Care Platform for Diabetic Patients
The Loop Health app serves two distinct user groups with very different needs. For patients, the interface prioritises ease of daily logging and clear visualisation of health trends over time. Tracking blood sugar, meals, and activity needs to feel effortless so that patients can maintain the habit consistently. Educational content is organised around the patient’s personal health programme, making it easy to find relevant guidance at any stage of their journey.
For coaches, a separate web portal provides a dashboard overview of all assigned patients, enabling Diabetic Consultants to monitor progress, review logs, and communicate with patients through the integrated chat feature. The dual-audience design required careful information architecture to serve both groups effectively without compromising either experience.
How Dihardja Software Helps
Before any design work began, Dihardja Software and the Loop Health team conducted comprehensive user research. This included benchmarking against similar apps with data logging and coaching features, conducting user testing sessions, and performing in-depth interviews with both patients and coaches. The insights from this research directly shaped the information architecture and interaction design, ensuring the app addressed real frustrations and unmet needs rather than assumed ones.
Dihardja Software designed the mobile app for iOS and Android and the web dashboard for coaches, then led the development of the native applications and web backend. The Loop Health team had initially built their MVP using a no-code platform, but faced limitations that prevented them from delivering the full experience their users needed. Dihardja Software rebuilt the product as a custom native application with the flexibility and performance required to serve a growing user base. Post-launch, the content management system allows the team to update health programmes and educational materials independently.
